Show Begins

Well the new cast of 2007s "The Wizard Of OZ" has finally had the chance to have a read through and start blocking the 200 page script of the show that will go to stage January 2008. Whilst much of the cast are the origninals from the 2001 production that came to Perth there are many like my self playing the Wizard and Alison Summers playing one of the Dorothys (we have 2) that have a lot of learning to do.

The cast we have is amazingly spectacular with a vast range of experience in dramas and musicals, and with our first reading you can already feel the bond we have together not only as friends but profesional actors on stage.

Us as the lead ensemble cast are kept very seperate from the rest of the cast at this stage. Whilst this is somewhat anoying it is important we learn what we are doing first before bringing it together with the general cast of the show, which all seem amazingly talented and range in all shapes and sizes.

The show is going to be huge in scale and a lot of money being spent on special effects and sets.

Director Kim Angus will be tough but as usual will get the best out of her cast and will ensure this show is well worth the money spent.

My character I am already having concerns over. It is hard enough being 22 and landing the role of OZ but it is another thing to try and make this character my own and portray it 100%. A lot of people will not realise how much in depth we have to dive into these fantasy characters.

Well so far not much too report, but I will keep you posted on how the show goes.
